Cascade Environmental, a contractor fleet specializing in drilling, site characterization, and remediation in the U.S., announced that it is expanding its use of the Motive Platform and Card.

By using the Motive Platform and Card, Cascade expects to save time, money, and resources on its fleet operations and access deep discounts on fuel, maintenance, and other business expenses through the Motive Card partner network.

Centralizing a Contractor Fleet with Motive

Cascade has been a Motive customer since 2017, using the platform to power its safety program and streamline its fleet management. Now, the contractor fleet is adding the Motive Card to its toolkit, allowing it to:

  • Consolidate its fleet-related spend in one place.

  • Monitor and control transactions with AI-enabled tools.

  • Reduce fraud and waste.

Gary Crueger, chief operating officer at Cascade Environmental, said: “We have a large and diverse fleet of about 800 vehicles, from 18-wheelers and flatbeds to mobile rig units and smaller manager trucks. Managing them using multiple tools was inefficient and cumbersome, so we centralized our operations with the Motive platform. It has been a game-changer for our business. We can access data and insights from Motive to make better and faster decisions about our fleet and drivers. We also save an estimated 800 hours per month on driver trip reporting required by the International Fuel Tax Agreement.”

What is IFTA?

IFTA is an agreement between the US states (except Alaska and Hawaii) and the Canadian provinces to make it easier for motor carriers to report and pay fuel taxes when they operate across different jurisdictions. Carriers can register and pay taxes to only one base jurisdiction, which then shares the taxes with the other jurisdictions based on the miles traveled and the fuel purchased by the carrier.

The agreement also provides a consistent system of fuel tax reporting and auditing for the participating jurisdictions. The goal of IFTA is to reduce the paperwork and cost for both the carriers and the governments, and to ensure fair and effective tax collection and enforcement.

The Motive Card also unlocks direct savings at the pump, on maintenance, tires, and more through the Motive Card partner network, which covers more than 12,000 locations.

Ryan Plutnicki, chief customer officer at Motive, said: “We are thrilled to see Cascade Environmental expand its use of the Motive Platform and Card. They are already using the platform to achieve an excellent safety record, but they realized that integrating the capabilities from the Motive Card would enhance their operations even further, incorporating cost savings on multiple levels and mitigating fraud. Now they can monitor and manage their fleet’s safety, profitability, and productivity in a single place to move their business forward.”
