Moving Repair Work From Alerts to Action

Fleet technologies already provide operators with information about vehicle health, maintenance needs, and incidents. ServiceUp’s platform is intended to take the next step by turning that information into repair activity.

The platform integrates with existing fleet management systems, telematics platforms, and predictive maintenance tools. AI repair agents can then manage tasks including repair intake, shop selection, estimate review, approval routing, invoice validation, and repair status monitoring.

Work Truck spoke with Brett Carlson, CEO of ServiceUp, about the operational problem the company is trying to address.

“Fleet repair has run the same way for decades: phone calls, emails, and a fleet manager stuck playing middleman. Nobody questioned it because nobody thought it could work any other way. We think that's wrong,” Carlson said. “The next generation of ServiceUp automates the entire process, powered by AI agents that do the chasing and make the routine calls so your team doesn't have to.”

The system supports collision, mechanical, and preventive maintenance work for Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles. Repairs are handled through a unified workflow rather than separate processes for each type of service.

Smart shop routing evaluates factors such as vehicle location, shop capabilities, capacity, cost, and previous performance. The platform can also monitor whether a shop has accepted the repair, identify delays, and escalate service-level risks.

Fleet Managers Control the Level of Automation

ServiceUp’s automated estimate tools review proposed repairs against fleet-defined pricing limits, warranty requirements, and approval policies. Routine estimates can be approved automatically, while exceptions are sent to a person for review.

Invoices are also compared with approved estimates before payment to identify any pricing discrepancies or additional work.

“Fleet managers didn't get into this business to spend half their day chasing shops for an estimate or a status update, or sitting on an approval that should've taken thirty seconds,” Carlson said. “Now they don't have to.”

Operators can determine how much authority the platform receives. ServiceUp offers manual, co-pilot, and fully autonomous settings, and individual agents can be enabled, disabled, or adjusted based on a fleet’s policies.

The company said the goal is not to remove fleet managers from the repair process, but to reduce the routine coordination that can keep vehicles in the shop longer than necessary.

ServiceUp is headquartered in Campbell, California, and works with commercial fleets in last-mile delivery, logistics, rental, and service operations.
