Road & Track named the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado full-size truck the "best pickup" of 2013 among eight vehicles featured as "Best Cars of 2013."
Chevrolet's Silverado has been the centerpiece of the automaker's repositioning of its line of pickups that also includes the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup. The Silverado is widely used in commercial, rental, and government fleets with 82,833 total registrations in calendar-year 2012.
Other Road & Track selections included the 2014 Mazda 3 as the "best economy" car and the 2014 Mazda 6 as the "best family sedan." Fleet buyers registered 22,831 Mazda 3 compact cars and 16,334 Mazda 6 full-size cars in 2012.
The publication also selected the Fiat 500e as its "best electric" car. The plug-in electric began shipping to dealers in July, following its introduction at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. Fleet buyers registered 5,224 Fiat 500 subcompact cars in 2012.
The 2104 Cadillac CTS earned "best luxury sedan." Earlier this month, the CTS was named Motor Trend's car of the year. Other winners included the 2014 Audi A8 L TDI as "best diesel," the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as "best station wagon," and the 2014 Range Rover Sport as "best SUV."
