Freightliner Trucks announced that Gaston County (N.C.) Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) has selected the Freightliner Trucks M2 106 as its model of choice for three new ambulance units. The units will serve the entire Gaston County area.
The three new ambulances will join the existing GEMS fleet that includes other special response, rescue support and quick response units. Designed to be efficient and reliable, the new units are spec’d with many special features, including an in-cab roll-up door that allows for quicker access to paramedic turnout gear and houses a self-contained breathing apparatus; extra electrical capacity to run a variety of support equipment; and a 2013 Cummins ISB engine built specifically for fire and emergency vehicles, according to Freightliner.
