National average diesel fuel prices were $2.44 per gallon as of Nov. 16, 2020, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

This is a $0.06 increase from the previous week, with overall national average prices down around 63 cents per gallon compared to same time last year. Prices have continued to remained relatively stable since early May. This current uptick matches prices in late June and late August. We have not seen average national diesel prices above $2.50 since mid April.

So far in 2020, a peak of $3.08 occured the week of Jan. 6 and diesel prices have, on average, declined or remained stable since then. National average gasoline prices have dipped slightly since late August, but still not as drastic as May prices dropped, according to the EIA. After a small spike in late August, prices have continued to drop again, although not to the lows seen in late April.

Current average diesel prices by region have continued to decrease between $0.49 and $0.77 year-over-year, according to the EIA. All regions saw a slight increase week-over-week.
