July Diesel Trends Update
This week, the national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel dropped by 9 cents. All five regions again reported lower average prices, this time ranging from just under 6 cents to more than 12 cents cheaper than a week ago.
The average price of a gallon of diesel dropped by 9 cents this week, bringing the national average to $4.57 per gallon.

The national average price of a gallon of diesel has continued to dip in the first full week of July; however, the price drops this week are not as large as those seen in the final weeks of June.
The national average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel was $4.57 as reported on July 6 by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The weekly report also provides a year-over-year pricing comparison, showing the national average is 84 cents higher than in 2025 and 71 cents higher than the same time in 2024.
This week, average prices decreased across all five regions.
The regional price average decreases ranged from 5.8 cents in the Gulf Coast region to more than 12 cents in the Midwest Coast region. All regions’ averages are now below $5, except for the West Coast, which was reported at $5.42 on Monday.
The most expensive place to buy diesel is Hawaii, at $6.95 per gallon, and the least costly is Oklahoma, at $4.01 per gallon.

- East Coast: $4.69
- Midwest: $4.45
- Gulf Coast: $4.22
- Rocky Mountain: $4.48
- West Coast: $5.42
Regional Diesel Prices: End of June
The average price of a gallon of diesel dropped by more than 16 cents this week, bringing the national average to under $4.70 per gallon.

Regional Diesel Prices: 4th Week of June
The average price of a gallon of diesel dropped by more than 22 cents this week, bringing the national average back below $5 per gallon.
