Terex Utilities hosted its 47th annual Hands-On Training in August at its Watertown, South Dakota, manufacturing facility. The program provided customers, dealers, and rental partners the opportunity to operate Terex digger derricks and aerial devices in various applications.

Training Format

The 2025 training was condensed into two days, allowing for two separate events. A new session on in-service protocols for digger derricks and bucket trucks was also added. Participants received instruction on equipment setup before operating the machines.

Participation and Training Stations

A total of 71 participants from across the U.S. and abroad rotated through 10 stations.

  • Digger derrick stations: digging holes, setting poles, and setting screw anchors.

  • Aerial device stations: changing out a transformer, performing a three-phase lift, and changing out an insulator.

  • Additional training: instruction on top controls.

Audience and Purpose

“Hands-On is geared toward anyone who works for a utility or one of our partners—whether they are a fleet manager, mechanic, or work in the office,” said Tori Worley, Senior Manager of Customer Experience. “The training helps those who do not work in the field gain a better understanding of how the equipment is used and operated.”

Participant Feedback

One attendee commented: “The training overall was an incredible experience. Every Terex team member was informative and professional. The structure of the training is well designed and keeps trainees engaged.”
