Geotab, a provider of connected transportation solutions, has received an industry-first Executive Order from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its aftermarket fleet management solutions.

This exemption officially removes Geotab's solutions from CARB's emissions anti-tampering regulations in California, making it the only CARB-compliant continuously connected fleet management solution.

CARB has established effective air and climate programs for the US, developing regulations for clean vehicles and fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As part of these regulations, CARB prohibits the installation, marketing, or sale of any part that changes the original design or performance of the emissions control system, including the on-board diagnostic system that Geotab's telematics device uses to collect data from vehicles. Non-compliance with the regulation may lead to fines of up to $42,000 per vehicle.

Geotab's Go Telematics Kit successfully cleared CARB's rigorous testing to receive the Executive Order.

The company worked closely with CARB to ensure its solutions meet the agency's strict compliance standards. Fleets can now be confident in a compliant solution developed by Geotab that has passed CARB's rigorous requirements, enabling improvements in sustainability, productivity, and safety goals while supporting California's ambitious air and climate plans.

This news is significant for California fleet managers since they must comply with CARB's strict regulations. They can now rely on Geotab's CARB-compliant solutions to improve their fleet's sustainability and productivity while avoiding potential fines for non-compliance.
