National average diesel prices have been on a steady upward trend with a slight end-of-year dip.

National average diesel fuel prices were $3.66 per gallon as of Jan. 10, 2022, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

While this is a rise of 4 cents from the prior week and 99 cents over last year, national average diesel fuel prices have dropped from the recent peak of $3.73 in early November 2021.

Most regions experienced a small price increase both week-over-week and year-over-year, with the exception of the Rocky Mountain Region.

Current average diesel prices by region are:

  • East Coast: $3.65
  • Midwest: $3.52
  • Gulf Coast: $3.84
  • Rocky Mountain: $3.67
  • West Coast: $4.42
