Volvo Trucks North America has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Trimble Transportation Enterprise (formerly TMW Systems) to develop future transportation management and fleet maintenance products and services.
The proposed collaboration leverages Volvo’s onboard connectivity hardware to offer solutions that help fleets run their businesses more effectively, bringing critical uptime information into the Trimble platform. Volvo made the announcement ] at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition in Austin, Texas.
“Our work with Trimble enables us to continue expanding our connected vehicle services offerings, focused on partnerships with best-in-class providers,” said Conal Deedy, director of connected vehicle Services for Volvo Trucks North America. “We’re working together to enhance our customers’ fleet management systems to provide better insight into how their assets are performing and offer solutions that will increase efficiencies in their organizations.”
Trimble Transportation Enterprise, an industry leader of transportation software, provides customers with solutions for routing and dispatch, asset maintenance solutions, business intelligence, transportation management, and fleet visibility in order to maximize efficiencies within a customer’s fleet.
“We are excited to be working with Volvo Trucks to explore unique solutions for our fleet customers to reduce equipment downtime and improve efficiencies through the increased insight of asset performance and service history,” said Bryn Fosburgh, President of Trimble Transportation Enterprise.
Fleet management services offer fleet managers critical information such as location, fuel economy, and vehicle and driver performance data for all trucks in a fleet. This information can be utilized by the fleets to control costs, increase safety, improve customer service and enhance operations.
Fleet management services to be offered by Volvo and Trimble Transportation Enterprise add to Volvo’s lineup of best-in-class providers of fleet management services and further Volvo’s strategy of providing customers options for providers that best suit their applications and capabilities. Fleet management services provide trucking operations with vital information on their assets and operation, such as vehicle location, vehicle and driver performance data, regulatory compliance and more, helping fleets control costs, improve customer service, increase safety and enhance operations.
Specific details of the offerings to be developed by the parties under the proposed collaboration have not yet been finalized.
