Transport Solutions of America (TSOA) has announced that Ernie McArthur has joined its staff as safety manager. McArthur brings a wealth of experience to the position thanks to his background in both law enforcement and the transportation industry.

In his role as Safety Manager, McArthur will oversee safety compliance and driver hiring, among other duties. The Safety Manager is entrusted with tasks such as reviewing driver logs to ensure their hours stay within safe and legal limits.

Prior to joining Transport Solutions of America (TSOA), McArthur had a career in law enforcement. He first joined the Georgia State Patrol as a dispatcher in 1993, and after attending trooper school he became a field training officer. Later, McArthur was a Lieutenant for the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. His work there as Administrative Services Division Manager gave him a good groundwork for filling the role of Safety Manager at TSOA as he became an expert at researching regulations and laws.

McArthur also knows all about being behind the wheel. He was a pursuit driver instructor for six years, teaching other law enforcement officers. In addition, McArthur has his CDLA license. He used to own Hot Shot Trucks in Canton, Ga., and drove tour buses for the entertainment industry.

“Personally, I come from a trucking family. My dad drove for 44 years,” said McArthur. “I’ve always liked that industry: the drivers, being on the road. Having a wife and daughter at home, I can’t do that anymore, but I can live vicariously through our drivers! I’m looking forward to working with all of the TSOA drivers as we strive to provide safe, compliant customer service to all of our clients.”

“Ernie brings an incredible amount of experience from both driver and compliance standpoints,” said TSOA CEO Tim Williamson. “Safety and compliance are so important for a drive-away company, and our clients can be assured that Ernie will be an excellent advocate for those aspects of our business.”
