Looking Back: Spring 2023 Continues Downward Diesel Price Trend
Springing into Dipping Diesel Prices
In this week's diesel fuel price update, we check out regional averages, loearn what regions are below four bucks a gallon, and celebrate the West Coast's drop below $5.

The current average diesel fuel price represents a decrease of 1 cent per gallon compared to the prior week and a drop of about $0.98 per gallon compared to one year prior.

National average retail diesel fuel pricing going into Spring 2023 decreased once again to $4.10 per gallon as of April 11, 2023, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
This average price represents a decrease of 1 cent per gallon compared to the prior week and a drop of about $0.98 per gallon compared to one year prior.
Digging into U.S. Regional Diesel Fuel Prices
This week, only the Midwest saw a minor price increase (around a cent-and-a-half). The remaining U.S. regions tracked by the EIA saw a price decrease for diesel fuel week-over-week and year-over-year for one more week.
Current average diesel prices by region are:
East Coast: $4.23
Midwest: $3.95
Gulf Coast: $3.89
Rocky Mountain: $4.15
West Coast: $4.72
What are the Regional Fuel Price Trends?
A few general highlights include:
West Coast average prices have remained below the $5 per gallon mark, including California for the first time in a while, which finally hit $4.99).
The most significant week-over-week decrease was seen again in the Rocky Mountain region for a third consecutive week at around 5 cents below last week.
The highest year-over-year decline was seen in the West Coast yet again, dipping $1.06 below the same time the previous year.
Midwest and Gulf Coast remain the only regions below the $4 per gallon price point for diesel fuel.
