Report: Aluminum to Dominate Pickup Market By 2025
More than 75 percent of new pickup trucks produced in North America will have aluminum bodies by 2025, according to a new survey funded by an aluminum trade group.

More than 75 percent of new pickup trucks produced in North America will have aluminum bodies by 2025, according to a new survey funded by an aluminum trade group.
The number of vehicles with complete aluminum body structures should reach 18 percent, according to the study by Ducker Worldwide. The survey, which was funded by the Aluminum Association, polled major auto makers.
Vehicle segments expected to emerge as aluminum content leaders include pickup trucks, sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) and both mid-sized and full-size sedans, according to the report.
Use of aluminum sheet for vehicles bodies should increase to 4 billion pounds by 2025 from 200 million pounds in 2012.
