Renewable Diesel in Calif. Could Curb Emissions by 71%
The California Advanced Biofuels Alliance released a report detailing how California transitioning away from using petroleum diesel and toward sustainable diesel fuel would curb climate change and reduce health risks.
The report states transitioning to sustainable diesels in California will represent a 71% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.

California transitioning away from using petroleum diesel and toward sustainable diesel fueling would curb climate change and reduce health risks, according to a new report from the California Advanced Biofuels Alliance. Transitioning to sustainable diesels would represent a 71% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.
The report reflects Gov. Gavin Newsom's goal of eliminating petroleum diesel emissions in the state by 2030, according to the alliance.
The report, A Roadmap for Eliminating Petroleum Diesel in California by 2030, states that use biodiesel and renewable diesel has grown significantly since 2019. These fuels are derived from materials such as vegetable oils, used cooking oil and animal fats.
Elimination of petroleum diesels will help reduce asthma, cardiovascular disease and some cancers, according to Jennifer Case, immediate past chair of the alliance.
