Reading Truck Body, LLC, manufacturer of vocational truck bodies, was recently selected as the winner of the 2015 NAACP Community Impact Corporate Award by the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Reading chapter.

The Reading NAACP chapter, an organization whose mission is rooted in equal opportunity for all and the eradication of race-based discrimination, cited Reading’s diligent and dedicated service to community involvement over the past year as the reason for this distinct honor.

“At Reading Truck Body, we are proud to have solidified our roots in the heart of Berks County. Over the past 60 years, we have carried the Reading name with pride. As part of this wonderful community, we feel it is our responsibility to help ensure its well-being and livelihood, and in collaboration with others, we look forward to continuing to make positive, long-lasting changes,” stated Beth Johnson, director of marketing.

Throughout 2015, Reading Truck Body’s employee-led Community Relations Committee has spearheaded a number of community-oriented initiatives throughout Berks County that have emphasized improving the lives of those less fortunate. Charitable contributions included a coat drive for veterans, fundraising for the Look Good…Feel Better campaign, hosting a book drive for Opportunity House, fiscally supporting the annual Queen City Diner event to provide meals and clothes for the homeless, revitalizing a children’s playground, and volunteering at the HBA Restoring Hope Foundation.

Honored at the 28th Annual Freedom Fund Gala at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel on Saturday, October 24th, Vice President of Operations James Andreas and Chief Financial Officer Jenifer Bowden accepted the award on behalf of the company. Dr. David E. Goatley, a NAACP National Board member, served as the keynote speaker at the event.
