Ram Truck has announced the pricing and fuel economy for its first vehicle in the small commercial van segment, the 2015 Ram ProMaster City, the compact version of the full size Ram ProMaster.
The ProMaster City shares the same fuel economy as the Ford Transit Connect. Both have an EPA fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway and a combined rating of 24 mpg. Fuel economy ratings for the Chevrolet City Express and Nissan NV200 average 24 mpg in the city.
The compact van will be offered in a cargo and passenger version. The Ram ProMaster City cargo van will start at $24,125, while the ProMaster City passenger wagon will start at $25,125. The prices include a $995 destination fee.
Ram Truck will offer the ProMaster City in the base model with a nine-speed automatic transmission and 2.4L four-cylinder engine that generates 178 hp. This compact van is the only one in the segment with a nine-speed transmission. It offers 2,000 pounds of towing capacity and 131.7 cubic feet of cargo volume. The payload capacity is 1,883 pounds, according to Ram.
The ProMaster City, which will replace the Ram C/V Tradesman, will arrive at dealer lots in early 2015. The vehicle, which is assembled in the TOFAS plant in Turkey, is a U.S. version of the Fiat Doblo offered in Europe.
