DriveWell Fleet from Cambridge Mobile Telematics aims to help commercial insurers use fleet telematics data for pricing, including options for connected and unconnected vehicles.
For fleets already using telematics, CMT said its bring-your-own-device platform integrates directly with providers including Samsara, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, and Linxup.

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), a telematics service provider focused on improving road safety, announced DriveWell Fleet, a new program it says is designed to help commercial auto insurers use fleet telematics data to inform underwriting and pricing.
The company said DriveWell Fleet can normalize high-frequency telematics data from connected vehicles through integrations with telematics service providers and also offers proprietary hardware options for vehicles that are not connected. CMT said the combined approach is intended to enable telematics coverage across an entire fleet.

What It Means For Fleets And Insurance Programs
CMT said fewer than 5% of commercial policies are priced using telematics data, even though more than 30% of vehicles are already connected to telematics service providers. The company is positioning DriveWell Fleet to expand how fleets are evaluated in commercial insurance programs by leveraging driving and vehicle data already captured in day-to-day operations.
DriveWell Fleet is intended to address three areas for commercial insurers, according to CMT: coverage across fleets, data quality for risk selection and pricing accuracy, and streamlined integration and onboarding. CMT also said DriveWell Fleet includes a consent process designed to support opt-in transparency for fleets.
“For more than a decade, CMT has partnered with the world’s leading personal auto insurers to reduce risk, prevent crashes, and save lives. Now we’re bringing that same proven approach to commercial auto with DriveWell Fleet,” said William V. Powers, co-founder and CEO of CMT, in a prepared statement.
Integrations For Connected Fleets
For fleets already using telematics, CMT said its bring-your-own-device platform integrates directly with providers including Samsara, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, GPS Insight, and Linxup. CMT said those integrations cover more than 80% of the connected commercial vehicle market today, with 90% coverage expected later this year.
Netradyne Chief Business Development Officer Adam Kahn said the partnership is intended to help insurers access driving data and improve pricing accuracy. And Linxup CEO Drew Reynolds said the partnership is aimed at helping small and mid-sized fleets connect safety investments to insurance outcomes.

Hardware Options For Unconnected Vehicles
For fleets with vehicles that are not already connected, CMT introduced two hardware options it said do not require phones, cellular plans, or complex installation:
Tag Pro: A windshield-mounted Internet of Things device that uploads data through CMT’s mesh network. CMT said it is designed for smaller fleets and does not require a phone, cellular plan, or external power source.
Tag Max: A windshield-mounted device with LTE connectivity designed for commercial heavy vehicles, including long-haul fleets. CMT said it also does not require a phone or cellular plan.
CMT said insurers can access fleet- and vehicle-level insights through the CMT Portal, whether a fleet is using BYOD integrations, the company’s hardware, or a mix of both.
