Electric vehicle manufacturer Narro Trucks officially launched its operations on Aug. 20, marking an important milestone for advanced vehicle manufacturing and clean transportation in Southwest Virginia.
Narro Trucks, based in Dublin, Virginia, develops electric utility vehicles intended to help businesses work more efficiently and with lower operating costs. The company's mission is centered on delivering sustainable, high-performance utility vehicles that combine innovative engineering with practical solutions for real-world work environments.
Nearly 100 people from various industry sectors were invited to ride or drive the electric utility truck at Randolph Park including their most recent customer, Pulaski County Parks and Recreation.
“We are grateful for the early support of Pulaski County as we began this business venture. From joining us in Europe to meet with strategic partners and suppliers to purchase one of the first Narro Trucks, their partnership is invaluable,” said Narro Trucks CEO Maxell Collignon. “The official launch of Narro Trucks is a major milestone in the life of our young company. As the third generation in our family in auto manufacturing, we look forward to offering Narro Trucks as a promising answer to many future fleet challenges.”
“Innovative energy solutions are ramping up in Virginia’s Ninth District. Narro Trucks in the New River Valley is a forward-thinking project that underscores regional commitments to help those who will benefit from these new technologies in transportation,” said U.S. Representative Morgan Griffith (VA-9).
Customizable Body Configurations
Narro vehicles are designed to support a variety of industries and can be customized with multiple body configurations and specialized upfits to meet the unique needs of customers in commercial, agricultural, municipal, and industrial sectors.
Member of Virginia Clean Cities
The launch highlights the growing role of clean transportation technologies in supporting American energy independence and economic competitiveness. Because of this, Narro Trucks sought membership at Virginia Clean Cities, a coalition created to provide education and encourage deployment of alternative, domestic transportation fuels.
"Companies like Narro Trucks are helping demonstrate how innovative, American-made solutions can support both economic development and transportation sustainability," said Alleyn Harned, executive director of Virginia Clean Cities. “With local electricity rates at one-third the cost of gasoline, this new business venture will help reduce dependence on imported fuels, improve energy security and provide businesses and communities with practical tools to lower operating costs and environmental impacts."
3 Employees Already on Payroll
The Narro team is made up of graduates of nearby Radford University and New River Community College. With three employees already on the payroll, the company hopes to continue to provide jobs and an economic boost for the region. Narro Trucks is working to secure funding and is open to the right investors to start production in Southwest Virginia with a goal to create 20 new jobs.
“We are proud of what we have achieved in such a short period of time,” said Cullen Danilowicz, Narro Trucks chief technology officer. "Simultaneously engineering our vehicle while dealing with various supply chain disruptions has been a challenge, but one we were able to overcome. Now that our platform is designed, I am excited to see what unique applications our customers will choose and how we can help increase efficiency."
Narro Trucks said its launch reflects increasing demand for practical electric work vehicles that deliver performance, versatility, and sustainability. By combining customizable designs with the benefits of electric propulsion, the company aims to provide customers with dependable solutions that meet today's operational needs while preparing for the transportation technologies of tomorrow.
