LOUISVILLE, KY - Kenworth Truck Company introduced the  Kenworth NavPlus, a PACCAR proprietary navigation and infotainment technology system for Class 5-8 trucks.

"Kenworth NavPlus is an exciting breakthrough in commercial vehicle technology," said Preston Feight, Kenworth chief engineer. It's simply a more productive and smarter way to travel down the highway."

Kenworth NavPlus is the trucking industry's first factory-installed, in-dash system designed for life on the road. The system is full of valuable and productive features, including true truck-specific navigation, vehicle data, hands-free phoning, audio controls (including satellite radio, AM/FM, CD, MP3 and USB), camera inputs, roadside assistance, and optional Internet access. With a touch of the high-resolution, 7-inch color screen, the driver has quick and easy access to these features. The system has 8 gigabytes of memory.

Developed on the award-winning Windows Embedded Automotive software platform, Kenworth NavPlus can be updated and its features and functionality set expanded over time. With the future potential to add new applications and services, Kenworth can continue delivering new and fresh experiences to its customers.

Kenworth NavPlus is standard on all premium trim offerings and optional for all other trim levels. Here's a closer look at some key features:

Six virtual gauges provide current information on truck operation. Oil temperature, transmission temperature, manifold boost, current and average fuel economy, diesel particulate filter (DPF) status and fuel pressure come pre-loaded. NavPlus uses the commercial vehicle J1939 SAE standard for communication, full vehicle monitoring (including hybrid system status) and diagnostics. The system is fully compatible with the Kenworth Electronic Service Analyst (ESA), a computer-base diagnostics tool which simplifies troubleshooting.

Kenworth NavPlus offers truck-optimized navigation routes from Garmin customized to a specific truck and its load. The system effectively navigates routes based on truck type, load, height, weight, length and hazardous load restrictions information entered by the fleet or driver. Drivers receive voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, up-to-the-minute alerts on traffic conditions, plus a comprehensive guide to Kenworth dealerships in the U.S. and Canada.

NavPlus integrates Bluetooth wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker. Drivers can pair it with their compatible Bluetooth phone and talk hands-free. The system, which is fully voice-recognition enabled, logs phone calls, imports contact information, and enables text messaging for those using a Bluetooth device.

An optional cellular modem is available for easy connectivity, which makes it simple to send and receive e-mail, contact the office, and check the Internet, all while parked. NavPlus also provides links to Kenworth PremierCare services, PACCAR Parts and PACCAR Financial.

Kenworth NavPlus features AM/FM/Weather bands, satellite radio capability for commercial-free programming cross country, CD player, USB port for memory devices containing MP3 or audio files, auxiliary MP3 player hookup, iPod capability, and Bluetooth wireless audio streaming from Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Kenworth NavPlus also features video input ports that allow for customer installation of up to four video cameras. The driver can use the camera technology to get a real-time screen view as an aid when backing up or changing lanes.
