June Diesel Trends Update
This week, the average price of diesel fuel increased nationally and in every region. The national average is 10 cents higher than a week ago, and 16 cents below last year’s average.

This week, the national average price of diesel increased by more than 20 cents. The price per gallon also increased significantly in every region, two of which saw increases of more than 20 cents.

According to the most recent report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average cost of diesel fuel jumped significantly this week, and all five regions also reported higher average prices.
The national average price of diesel fuel in the U.S. per gallon increased by 20 cents as of June 23, 2025. The national average price of $3.77 is .6 cents higher than at the same time last year.
This week, regional average prices increased in all five regions. The increases ranged from just over 14 cents in the Rocky Mountain region to 24 cents in the Midwest region. The averages for three regions are still lower than at the same time last year, however, the Midwest and West Coast are higher.
The most expensive place to buy diesel is Hawaii, at $5.24 per gallon, and the least costly is Texas, at $3.26 per gallon.

In the fourth week of June, average diesel prices reported by region, as of June 23, were:
East Coast: $3.79
Midwest: $3.78
Gulf Coast: $3.43
Rocky Mountain: $3.69
West Coast: $4.46

The national average price of diesel increased 10 cents this week. The price per gallon also increased in every region, three of which saw increases of more than 9 cents.

In the third week of June, average diesel prices reported by region, as of June 16, were:
East Coast: $3.62
Midwest: $3.53
Gulf Coast: $3.21
Rocky Mountain: $3.55
West Coast: $4.31

The national average price of diesel increased 2 cents this week. It also increased in every region other than the West Coast region, which reported a slight decrease.

The national average price of diesel decreased again this week. It also decreased in every region other than the Rocky Mountain region, which reported a slight increase.

Diesel Price Factors & Outlook
According to AAA, at the end of May, the crude oil prices per barrel remained in the low $60s. Reports indicated prices should remain lower when compared to last summer; however, weather can have an impact. Hurricane season has begun, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a 60% chance of more named storms than in a normal hurricane season.
