AKRON, OHIO - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. introduced several medium truck tires for a wide variety of applications at its recent dealer conference in Orlando, Fla., including a line of SmartWay-approved Dunlop long-haul tires.
SmartWay-approved Dunlop FM tires include the SP 384 FM steer tire, the SP 456 FM drive tire and the SP 193 FM trailer tire.
All three tires contain new, fuel-efficient compounding and are available in standard (11R22.5) and low-profile (295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5) sizes. In addition, the tires' casings support Goodyear Fuel Max retreads.
Other new medium truck tires from Goodyear include:
The Goodyear G296 MSA, a super-single tire for mixed service applications like mixers, dump trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. The G296 MSA is available in three sizes: 385/65R22.5, 425/65R22.5 and 445/65R22.5.
Features include an optimized footprint for enhanced traction, special chip- and tear-resistant compounding and more. The tire also is available with Goodyear's DuraSeal Technology (in size 425/65R22.5). "It's the only super single to offer built-in puncture sealing," says Donn Kramer, Goodyear's director of commercial tire marketing.
The Goodyear G296 WHA, a super-single waste haul tire that completes the company's line-up of waste haul tires. It's available in size 425/65R22.5 in Load Range L at a capacity of 11,400 pounds.
The tire also is available with DuraSeal Technology and features a deep 23/32-inch tread depth, four wide circumferential grooves for even wear, sidewall scuff protectors and other amenities, including a four-belt package, which provides for platform toughness.
The Kelly Armorsteel KLS, a steer axle tire that features 18/32-inch tread depth in a five-rib design, a barrel-shaped footprint, lateral sipes and slots for extra traction, a pressure distribution groove on the outside edge of the shoulder rib, and more. The KLS comes in four sizes: 11R22.5, 11R24.5, 295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5.
Goodyear officials add that the KLS is "highly retreadable thanks to a four-belt package which helps lower overall lifecycle costs for owner-operators and fleets."
