Geotab, an IoT and connected transportation provider, announced that vehicles equipped with Geotab Integrated Solution for Ford are now compatible with the company’s Geotab Drive electronic logging device (ELD) app, according to the company's press release.
This allows drivers to record their Hours of Service (HOS) status and complete vehicle inspections from their tablet or smartphone.
“We’re committed to providing commercial customers with the best tools to run their businesses more efficiently,” said Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro. “Geotab’s ELD will help Ford customers stay up-to-date on fleet compliance and give them real-time access to information like violation alerts. Through integrations like this, we at Ford Pro aim to help our business customers reduce costs and increase productivity.”
Geotab Drive recently gained ELD certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which requires most commercial motor vehicles operating in the U.S. to install and properly use an FMCSA-registered ELD to record HOS and other safety-related information.
“The compatibility between Geotab Integrated Solution for Ford and Geotab Drive not only gives fleet managers one integrated, cloud-based system for all their ELD compliance needs, it gives their drivers the flexibility and convenience to easily record their HOS status and complete vehicle inspections from their tablet or smartphone,” said Sherry Calkins, VP of Connected Car Business Development, Geotab. “We applaud Ford for offering this advanced integrated solution to its customers that will help them meet compliance regulations, improve both fleet productivity and driver safety, and minimize the administrative burden that often comes along with ELD compliance.”
Geotab Integrated Solution for Ford features Geotab’s open platform for telematics that helps organizations reduce fleet costs, increase productivity and efficiency, improve safety, and strengthen compliance. The solution allows fleet managers to collect and monitor data from Ford vehicles, all with end-to-end data protection.
The combined Geotab Drive app and Geotab Integrated Solution for Ford enable drivers to log their HOS from their smartphones and tablet devices, while also allowing drivers to complete vehicle inspections including streamlining Driver Vehicle Inspection Reporting (DVIR), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) reporting, and driver identification.
In addition, accessing ELD data through the MyGeotab portal enables fleet managers to keep track of fleet compliance with real-time data insights through an interface where they can view detailed reports on driver logs, violation alerts, and running reports on the status of the fleet.
