General Motors CEO Mary Barra was named as one of Fortune’s 25 greatest leaders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Barra placed at No. 9 on the list and was recognized for her fast reaction to criticism from President Trump, of which the company benefitted from, according to Fortune. Fortune said GM was the first big U.S. automaker to commit idle assembly lines to the fight against COVID-19.
Early in April, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded GM a $489 million contract to deliver 30,000 ventilators by the end of August.
Earlier in March, GM announced it was producing critical care ventilators with Ventec Life Systems.
