Ford gave an early glimpse of its redesigned 2017 Super Duty pickup at the Los Angeles Auto Show, by showing a white F-450 Platinum dual-rear-wheel pickup and F-350 King Ranch.

Ford has provided some details about its next-generation Super Duty lineup, which will follow the 2015 model year F-150 by incorporating significantly more aluminum to lessen the weight.

Ford brought two trucks, including the F-450 that's powered by a 6.7L Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine. The truck also features 19.5-inch wheels, a fully boxed high-strength steel frame and military-grade aluminum allow body. Aluminum body panels should reduce weight by about 350 pounds.

"It’s our top-of-the line tow rig," said Mike Levine, Ford's truck communications manager. "It’s the toughest, smartest, most capable Super Duty ever."

Ford also brought a 2017 F-350 King Ranch crew cab 4x4 single-rear-wheel pickup that offers Ford's "Texas-inspired luxury package that pays tribute to the pioneering spirit, stwearship, and agricultural leadership of the historic King Ranch," Levine said.

Ford plans to reveal additional details about the capabilities of the trucks for towing, payload, and engine performance closer to their launch in the fall of 2016.

In addition to the diesel engine, Ford will offer a 6.2L V-8 gasoline engine on the F-250 pickup equipped with Ford's TorqShift-G transmission. The Super Duty chassis-cab lineup includes a choice of 6.7L Power Stroke V-8 Diesel, 6.8L V-10 gasoline or 6.2L V-8 gasoline engines.
