Ford Motor Co. has added 850 jobs to its Ford Rouge Center in Dearborn, Mich., to build the 2015 F-150 pickup truck, the company has announced.
Ford added the jobs to its Dearborn Truck Stamping and Diversified facilities following a revamping of its Dearborn Truck Plant in preparation for the launch of the redesigned pickup that now inforporates a significantly higher amount of aluminum in its body.
Ford will begin production of the new pickup around the end of October.
The 850 new jobs are divided among three of the center’s facilities – more than 500 for Dearborn Truck, nearly 300 for Dearborn Stamping, and more than 50 for Dearborn Diversified. Nearly 5,000 workers at the facilities now maintain hourly employment. These jobs are in addition to the more than 3,000 hourly jobs Ford has added across its U.S. manufacturing facilities this year alone, according to Ford.
