According to the most recent report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average cost of diesel fuel increased this week, while four of five regions also reported higher averages. 

The national average price of diesel fuel in the U.S. per gallon increased slightly as of Feb. 24, 2025. The average price of $3.70 is 36 cents cheaper than at the same time last year. 

This week, regional average prices increased in four regions. The increases ranged from less than a half-cent in the East Coast region to more than four cents in the West Coast region. The average price decreased by 1.5 cents in the Rocky Mountain region.

The most expensive place to buy diesel is Hawaii, at $5.28 per gallon, and the least costly is Oklahoma, at $3.17 per gallon.

• Gulf Coast: $3.42 

• Rocky Mountain: $3.49 

• West Coast: $4.36

In the third week of February, average diesel prices reported by region as of Feb. 18 were: 

• East Coast: $3.79 

• Midwest: $3.60 

• Gulf Coast: $3.38 

• Rocky Mountain: $3.51

In the second week of February, average diesel prices reported by region as of Feb. 10 were: 

• East Coast: $3.76 

• Midwest: $3.58 

• Gulf Coast: $3.39 

• Rocky Mountain: $3.53 

• West Coast: $4.31

In the first week of February, average diesel prices reported by region as of Feb. 3 were: 

• East Coast: $3.78 

• Midwest: $3.57 

• Gulf Coast: $3.39
