October Diesel Trends Update

After three weeks of declining diesel prices, the national average price of a gallon of diesel increased sharply this week.

According to the most recent report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average cost of diesel fuel at the start of this week increased nearly 10 cents from the previous week, and all regions also reported higher prices.

The national average price per gallon of diesel fuel in the U.S. increased as of Oct. 27, 2025. However, the national average price of $3.72 per gallon is also 14.5 cents higher than it was at the same time last year.

This week, regional average prices increased in every region. The regional price average increases ranged from more than 4.8 cents in the East Coast region to more than 15 cents in the Midwest region.

All regions averaged higher prices than in the same period last year. The West Coast has the most significant difference, nearly 28 cents higher than this time last year. The most expensive place to buy diesel is Hawaii, at $5.23 per gallon, and the least costly is Texas, at $3.18 per gallon.

  • Midwest: $3.71

  • Gulf Coast: $3.35

  • Rocky Mountain: $3.68

  • West Coast: $4.48

Regional Diesel Prices: 4th Week of October
