Component: Back over prevention
Breakdown: Cracks in the microprocessor may cause the vehicle's rearview camera image not to display properly.
Solution: Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning Sept. 30, 2025.
Ford

Vehicles: 2025 Explorer and Aviator

Component: Exterior lighting
Breakdown: When towing a trailer, the tail lights on the trailer may fail to illuminate due to an improperly manufactured body control module.
Solution: Dealers will replace the body control module C on vehicles with less than 9,000 miles. For vehicles over 9,000 miles, dealers will perform a functional check on the body control module C and replace it as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed Oct. 13, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated April 2026.

Breakdown: The side curtain air bags may contact the B-Pillar inner reinforcements and tear during deployment.

Breakdown: When closing the windows with the global closing feature, the side rear windows may exert excessive force when encountering an object, before they automatically reverse.

Breakdown: Due to a software logic error, the daytime running lights may dim unexpectedly when the idle start-stop feature cycles the engine from off to on.

Breakdown: An improperly grounded connection inside the High Voltage Distribution Box (HVDB) may cause a loss of drive power.

Breakdown: The front winch bumper may be secured with incorrect bolts, which can cause the bumper to detach from the vehicle.

Breakdown: The brake air line compression fitting may not be tightened correctly, which can allow the supply line or other air lines to detach and cause the chassis emergency brakes to engage.
Solution: Altec will provide owners with instructions to inspect the brake air lines. If the lines are improperly secured, Altec will provide instructions and a kit to secure the lines. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct.3, 2025.
Fontaine Modification

Breakdown: Welds may crack and fail, allowing the Intermediate steering shaft assembly to detach from the steering column.

Breakdown: The battery interconnect cable may contact the auxiliary stud and hold-down bracket, causing a short circuit.
