UPS is working on a global safety initiative that is designed to address several global road safety issues, including driver training and pedestrian safety.

UPS is among a group of global organizations that has been collaborating with the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) to launch The Global Road Safety Initiative, according to UPS.

The foundation of the initiative began in 2018, born form a pilot project that was designed to improve road safety in India, which is where more than 10% of the world’s traffic fatalities take place, according to UPS.  The new global initiative is also designed to promote two-wheeler helmet use.

The global logistics company has previously invested in other safety programs, including the UPS Road Code program, a collaborative effort with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and with various youth development organizations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, in which UPS volunteers have provided safe driving training to more than 48,000 young and novice drivers.
