Six Western Star Trucks Receive Honors at Mid-America Trucking Show
REDFORD, MI – Six owners of Western Star Trucks were recognized at the seventh annual Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Show, held at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) Mar. 22-24.

REDFORD, MI – Six owners of Western Star Trucks were recognized at the seventh annual Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Show, held at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) Mar. 22-24. Western Star Trucks, headquartered in Redford, Mich., produces heavy-duty custom trucks for long haul and vocational applications. Western Star is a member of the Freightliner LLC Group. Action Carting, a refuse and recycling company based in Newark, N.J., was honored for their 2001 4900 FA refuse truck. The flagship of the Action fleet, the truck was awarded first place in the Bobtail Specialized category, second place in Bobtail Lights for its round aftermarket headlights, and third place in Bobtail Paint & Mural. Rusty Wyrick & Tina Lomax claimed second place in the Bobtail Limited Mileage category. Wyrick and Lomax showed their pearl white 1998 Western Star 4900 EX that has been decked out with a unique New Orleans-themed paint job, more than 1200 lights, and a custom sleeper.
Bruce Barnes tied for third place in the Bobtail 2005 & Newer category with his Western Star 4900 FA with 82-inch Stratosphere sleeper. Barnes’ truck features an exterior paint job of Convoy Gold with Las Vegas Gold flames and hardwood floors inside the cab. John Dietz Hauling, represented by driver Kevin Pratt, displayed an orange 2007 Western Star 4900 EX LowMax. The truck, decked out with custom chrome and full fenders, took second place in the Bobtail First Show category. Les Sullivan of Springfield, Ill., a longtime Western Star customer and show truck enthusiast, took third place in the Combo Truck Under 50,000 Miles category with his ivory and orange Western Star 4900 EX with flame graphics and a lowered suspension. Tim Begle, representing Automated Transportation LLC, took third place in the Combo 2004 & Newer category with a black 2007 Western Star 4900 SA paired with a 1999 Great Dane van trailer.
Another Western Star customer, Pierre Cinq-Mars, took third place overall in the prestigious National Association of Show Trucks (NAST) Truck-Lite Show with his red 2002 4900 EX spec’d with 343 LED lights, custom chrome accessories, and a custom airbrushed interior.
