Research: SUV & Light Truck Manufacturing Focuses on Fuel Efficency, Powertrain Options
According to a new research report, over the next five years, automakers will focus on producing crossover-utility vehicles and trucks with an emphasis on improved fuel efficiency.
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "SUV & Light Truck Manufacturing in the US" report to its offerings.
High gas prices and environmental concerns decimated light-duty truck and sport-utility vehicle (SUV) sales volumes through the early part of the past five-year period. Automakers responded to consumers' environmental concerns by offering an expanded selection of hybrid and crossover-utility vehicles, which has supplanted most SUV demand. Over the next five years, automakers will focus on producing crossover-utility vehicles and trucks with an emphasis on improved fuel efficiency.
Additional powertrain options, including clean diesel and hybrids, will fuel revenue gains, according to the authors of the report.
For the purposes of the study, companies in the industry are classified as manufacturing light-duty trucks and utility vehicles such as vans, pickups, sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), and crossover-utility vehicles (CUVs). They also manufacture light truck and utility vehicle chassis.
The report also covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five-year industry forecasts, growth rates’ and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares, according to the company.
Among the companies that receive a particular focus in the report are the Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Chrysler Group LLC, Toyota Motor Corporation, General Motors Corporation, and Ford Motor Company.
