Ford Motor Company announced a pair of recalls for unintended illumination of the brake lights and rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets, while Shyft Group is recalling certain vehicles due to the transmission shifter cable.
Ford is recalling approximately 11,098 2022 Maverick vehicles, according to NHTSA. Under certain circumstances, the Antilock Brake System (ABS) module may cause the brake lights to illuminate without the driver applying the brakes. As such, Ford said these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Dealers will update the software in the ABS module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on November 14, 2022.
Ford is also recalling approximately 26,910 2020-2021 F-53 recreational stripped chassis vehicles. The rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets may break and separate from the vehicle, according to Ford. Dealers will inspect the bolt tightness for both rear stabilizer attachment brackets and replace the weld nuts and bolts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 10, 2022.
Shyft is recalling approximately 451 2022 Utilimaster Walk-In vans. The transmission shifter cable may contact the exhaust manifold, causing the outer coating to melt and damaging the cable, according to Shyft. Shyft Group will reroute and secure the transmission shifter cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 28, 2022.
