Ram Truck Brand to Develop Full-Size ProMaster Van for MY-2014
Chrysler’s Ram Truck brand announced on Wednesday that it plans to develop a large van, based on the European Fiat Ducato, as a 2014 model-year vehicle for the North American marketplace.
Chrysler’s Ram Truck brand announced on Wednesday that it plans to develop a large van, based on the European Fiat Ducato, as a 2014 model-year vehicle for the North American marketplace. The automaker plans to call this new large van the ProMaster and said it will go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
Chrysler said that although the van is based on the Ducato, it will be significantly redesigned with “Ram styling cues,” and will offer features and powertrains that commercial customers in North America prefer. The automaker hasn’t yet revealed any images of the vehicle or other information about it.
“The Ram ProMaster further strengthens our commercial lineup, offering a full line of work trucks and vans,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, Chrysler Group LLC. “As the Ram Truck Brand continues to gain share and grow sales in the retail truck market, we will be just as aggressive in our goal to be a commercial truck market leader.”
Chrysler also announced in Sept. 2011 that it plans to bring a version of the Fiat Doblo small van to the U.S. as well but hasn't announced any new information about this vehicle yet.
