READING, PA – Penske Truck Leasing announced it received certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for the company’s Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) program. Penske is the first and only truck leasing, rental and logistics provider to earn an ASE certification for a program of this kind.
Penske’s CASE-recognized technician certification program is designed to enhance the skills of its 5,000 U.S. vehicle maintenance technicians and customer service representatives, who service more than 200,000 vehicles. The three-tiered program uses Web-based, hands-on and classroom training methods. Penske expects to fully implement its ASE-certified CASE training program companywide over the next 18 months.
“The automotive community is proud of Penske’s commitment to a quality in-house technician training program,” said Tim Zilke, President, ASE.
Penske Truck Leasing provides its vehicle maintenance technicians with ongoing and robust training programs. In addition to its new CASE program, each vehicle maintenance technician from Penske Truck Leasing typically receives 40 hours of training annually.
Mark Oliver, Senior Vice President – Field Maintenance, Penske Truck Leasing, noted the CASE program is vital in today’s marketplace. “Maximizing vehicle performance and safety for our customers is at the heart of our efforts to have the industry’s best-trained technicians. Improving the qualifications and skills of our people is central to meeting this objective,” he said.
Ken Coots, Senior Vice President – Maintenance Services, Penske Truck Leasing, also views the CASE program as a recruiting edge. “Vehicle technicians are in high demand in our industry and our program provides an excellent path for career advancement,” he said. “To provide techs with leading-edge training that keeps pace with the ever-changing engine and vehicle technologies is an invaluable asset for recruiting and retaining the best-in-class talent we need to serve our customers and their fleets.”
