StreetScan, a company that provides pavement inspection and management services, has announced that TomTom will be deploying its TomTom Bridge to the company's fleet of Nissan NV vans. The vans are used to help cities monitor, maintain, and repair roads.
StreetScan’s vans are equipped with patented acoustic, radar, and optical sensing technology to detect surface and subsurface roadway conditions.

TomTom Bridge is a rugged navigation device built for vehicle fleets that seamlessly connects business applications with TomTom maps, traffic, and navigation software. The device is used for executing custom routes with more than 100 waypoints per route. These routes will allow the StreetScan fleet to maximize efficiency by capturing 100% of a municipality’s roads the first time out, according to the company.
The combination of high processor speed, high precision commercial grade GPS, and TomTom maps contribute to much-improved route driving and efficiency gains. This equates to 16-33% time savings per route.
