DETROIT, MI – Duramax has now built its one-millionth engine, having introduced its first one in 2001. Since then, GM’s heavy-duty diesel pickup market share has increased nearly 10 times over the last six years. GM and Isuzu Motors Limited established DMAX Ltd in 1998. Isuzu is a 40 percent stakeholder while GM holds 60 percent. The 584,000-square foot DMAX plant has an annual production of 200,000 engines.

The 6.6L V-8 uses high pressure common rail direct injection and is equipped with a particulate filter to meet stringent 2007 emission requirements. The engine develops 365 hp (272 kW) and 660 lb.-ft. of torque (895 Nm). It is available in GM’s Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy-duty trucks, as well as the Chevrolet Kodiak, GMC TopKick, Chevrolet Express, and GMC Savana.
