Nissan's NP300 Pickup Fails Safety Test

Nissan’s NP300 Hardbody pickup truck received the lowest safety ranking with regards to adult protection, according to a safety campaign from the FIA Foundation. The vehicle, which is based on the Navara, is marketed to fleets in Africa.
The Global NCAP and the Automobile Association South Africa launched the second round of test results for its "#SaferCarsForAfrica" campaign, which is supported by the FIA Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies. The association found that the NP300 earned the lowest score of tests it has completed.
The other vehicles that were also observed in the recent campaign — the Hyundai i20, Kia Picanto, and Toyota Yaris — were priced lower than the NP300, but garnered higher safety ratings.
The NP300 Hardbody was noted as having poor adult occupant protection mainly in the driver head and chest areas in the frontal crash test at 40 miles per hour. The vehicle structure collapsed during the crash test, and it was rated as unstable.
Meanwhile, when monitoring at a rate of 40 miles per hour, the Toyota Yaris, Hyundai i20, and Kia Picanto all achieved a three star rating for adult occupant protection.
