BRENTWOOD, TN - A new Ford Ranger pick-up, on sale in the U.S. in 2011, will make its first public appearance in Europe at the Geneva Motor Show March 5-15.
Designed in Australia and built in Thailand, the new 1-ton pickup boasts a contemporary design inside and out.
"The Ford Ranger nameplate is already established in more than 100 markets around the world," said Henrik Nenzen, Ford of Europe's director of Commercial Vehicle Marketing and Sales. "The new model delivers even more style, comfort and features, making it an ideal choice."
Bold New Ranger Face and Profile
Exterior design features include a large horizontal three-bar grille at the front, large headlamps that wrap around each front corner, and larger side-mirrors for better visibility. At the rear, the Ranger debuts a new clear tail-lamp design.
The new Ranger is available with 10 paint choices, five of which are new: Highland Green, Winning Blue, Lagoon Blue, Copper Red, and Desert Bronze.
Style, Space, Craftsmanship, and Comfort
The interior offers car-like comfort thanks to ergonomically crafted seats, climate control and MP3-compatible audio, and a bodyshell engineered to isolate road noise from the cabin.
Storage solutions include a center stack sunglass binnacle and a front door storage bin. A pull-out sliding tray above the glove compartment is ideal for use as a work surface.
New Ranger's large center console features a two-level design. Its top bin is ideal for accommodating smaller items such as a cell phone, while its lower bin can house larger objects, including up to 10 CD cases.
Ranger Power and Capability
Customers will have a choice of four- or two-wheel-drive models. Powertrains available include fuel-efficient 2.5L and 3.0L TDCi turbodiesel engines with 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmissions. The new Ranger offers class-leading towing capability. With either the 2.5L or 3.0L TDCi Duratorq engine, loads of up to 6,600 lbs. can be towed.
With three body styles - Regular Cab, Super Cab, and Double Cab, the new Ranger also has a comprehensive choice of trim and equipment levels, from the entry-level XL to the range-topping Thunder and Wildtrak.
