LAS VEGAS - NAVTEQ, a global provider of digital map, traffic, and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless, and enterprise solutions, announced that NAVTEQ Transport is powering the IntelliRoute TND 500, a new truck navigation device by Rand McNally designed for owner-operators and professional truck drivers.

The IntelliRoute TND 500 is an innovative truck navigation device designed with the professional business driver in mind. Using Rand McNally's proprietary routing engine and road restriction data and utilizing all the benefits from NAVTEQ Transport, routes are calculated based on attributes such as length, width and height to calculate either the quickest or shortest routes. Spoken directions are provided in addition to a large, 5-inch screen display for easy navigation. Another feature important to truck drivers is that the IntelliRoute TND 500 is cross-referenced with the Rand McNally Motor Carriers' Road Atlas, which is America's No. 1-selling trucking atlas.

The leading-edge device utilizes NAVTEQ map data, which is defined by its high level of accuracy, its richness of content and its breadth of coverage. Along with NAVTEQ map data, NAVTEQ Transport provides efficiency to the IntelliRoute TND 500 by enabling turn-by-turn navigation and offering detailed road attributes including height, length and weight restrictions, legal restrictions, HAZMAT and specific Points of Interest like truck stops. By using NAVTEQ Transport, the device will enable trucks to efficiently drive the roads and provide warnings such as the height of an upcoming overpass or a road that restricts certain types of vehicles.

"Truckers who have been beta testing the device have been especially pleased with the Trucker Business Tools and accurate truck routing down to the address level," said Donna Koppensteiner, vice president, Global Enterprise, Rand McNally. "Utilizing NAVTEQ's high-quality, accurate map data and content along with Rand McNally's proprietary routing engine, detailed truck attribution, and 70 years of commitment and experience in the Commercial Trucking Industry, we have provided a navigation device that's essential for the business-minded driver. It provides accurate truck-specific navigation along with business tools to help the driver save time, miles and money."

"The collaboration between NAVTEQ and Rand McNally to deliver an efficient truck navigation device demonstrates leadership and innovation in the transport industry," said Roy Kolstad, vice president, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. "At NAVTEQ, we are committed to supporting the transport industry by enabling sophisticated truck navigation with accurate, reliable map data and products like NAVTEQ Transport(TM)."

IntelliRoute TND 500 is available now in truck stops, dealers, and online at www.randmcnally.com/truckgps.
