MoveEV is an organization that offers an AI-powered EV transition platform to help companies convert their current fleet and employee-owned gas vehicles to electric ones. They have announced a new Home Charging Savings Calculator designed for fleet managers who currently or will soon manage electric vehicles.
MoveEV's Home Charging Savings Calculator stands out for its user-friendly interface and its ability to showcase the substantial savings that can be realized through a home-based EV charging strategy, a feature that sets it apart from other tools in the market.
The calculator requires a few inputs, such as the type of electric vehicle, average annual mileage, and vehicle range. It then uses the national average costs for charging, which are $.48/kWh for DC fast charging and $0.16/kWh for residential charging, to provide an estimate of potential savings for fleets that adopt a home-based charging approach. The savings can be substantial.
For instance, a fleet of 25 Ford Lightning trucks driving 15,000 miles yearly could save $0.10 per mile, $1,470 per year per vehicle, and $183,750 for the fleet over a 5-year lifecycle.
Tony MacDonald, a former senior executive at Enterprise Fleet Management, calls MoveEV's Home Charging Savings Calculator "an eye-popper in an industry where saving a few cents per mile is a big achievement." He further adds that it highlights how adopting EV home charging is a game-changer for fleet management.
The Home Charging Savings Calculator is one of MoveEV's efforts to promote efficient fleet management practices and accelerate the adoption of climate-friendly electric vehicles in the country. MoveEV's flagship product, ReimburseEV, supports employee adoption of corporate charge-at-home policies by providing accurate, IRS-compliant receipts for their home energy use. Since it is compatible with all vehicles and chargers, it has become a preferred choice for Fortune 500 companies and municipalities.
David Lewis, CEO of MoveEV, believes that showing the ROI of electrification is critical if fleet managers are to embrace the switch to electric vehicles. He says home charging can reduce the need for costly depot chargers on-site and free up hundreds of thousands of dollars that can go back into the EV program. The Home Charging Savings Calculator helps highlight how big the win can be for even a relatively small fleet.
