Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (MFTA) has announced that its 2015 Canter FE130 medium-duty work truck (13,200-pound GVWR) is now available with a Supreme FiberPanel (HC) HoneyComb dry van body.
The Class 3 Canter FE130’s lightweight, rugged frame gives it a body/payload capacity of up to 7,975 pound — a 700-pound body/payload advantage over the 2014 Canter FE125 it replaces, as well as a 1,308-pound advantage over its primary competitor. When the new lightweight Supreme body is installed on the FE130, the total body/payload advantage jumps to nearly 1,000 pounds, compared to the previous model and 1,600 pounds compared to its primary competitor with a standard body.

According to Supreme, a 14-foot FiberPanel (HC) HoneyComb body with composite rear rollup door weighs 288 pounds less than a 14-foot box made of standard fiberglass-reinforced plywood (FRP). And, that weight savings translates directly to more payload. Yet, while the new FiberPanel HC body is lightweight, its fiberglass-reinforced, gel-coated honeycomb construction gives it both strength and durability.
According to Leighton Good, MFTA’s manager, product and applications, “We are always looking for ways to reduce cost-of-ownership for our FUSO owners. Our efficient frame design and use of lightweight structural technologies throughout the chassis help increase the Canter’s payload compared to competitive trucks. By adding this new Supreme FiberPanel (HC) HoneyComb body, we can boost payload capacity even more — allowing our customers to haul more per trip. And that helps them reduce their truck transport costs.”
The FiberPanel (HC) HoneyComb body is available in 12-, 14-, and 16-foot lengths, with 96-inch width and interior heights of 85, 91, or 97 inches. For more information, consult a local authorized Mitsubishi Fuso dealer, or visit mitfuso.com.
