Mercedes-Benz will debut its 2016 Metris mid-size van at the Work Truck Show on March 4, prior to offering the commercial vehicle for sale in the U.S. in the fall, show producer NTEA has announced.

Mercedes-Benz has given a few glimpses of its mid-size van. Daimler first made the announcement in September at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany. Daimler executives referred to it as the VS20, and said it would arrive with a 3.5-liter gasoline engine with a long wheelbase. It will come in cargo and passenger versions.

Then in November, Mercdes-Benz brought four project vans to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The rear-wheel-drive van will be nearly identical to the V-Class that's sold in Europe and elsewhere, reported Automobile Magazine.

The Metris is one of more than 100 new commercial vehicles and related products set to debut at North America's largest work truck event. Additional chassis OEMs with press conferences scheduled at the event include Ford Commercial Vehicles, Ram Commercial, Freightliner Trucks, and International Truck.

Educational programming, including the Green Truck Summit, runs from March 3-4.
