Kapsch TrafficCom announced the financial close and its selection as the tolling contractor for the Interstate 10 Calcasieu River Bridge project in Louisiana. The I-10 project is a major public-private partnership (P3) infrastructure initiative led by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and Calcasieu Bridge Partners (CBP).
The consortium is led by Plenary Americas, a longtime partner of Kapsch TrafficCom. As the tolling contractor and system integrator, Kapsch TrafficCom will provide end-to-end tolling services to CBP and the LADOTD.
The tolling portion of the I-10 project, valued at $230 million over 50 years, is a P3 collaboration between the state government and private-sector companies. This initiative aims to improve traffic on the vital I-10 corridor in Lake Charles, representing a significant advancement in infrastructure, safety, mobility, and economic growth for drivers and businesses in Southwest Louisiana.
"We are honored to be part of such a transformative project that will have a lasting impact on Louisiana's landscape," said JB Kendrick, president of Kapsch TrafficCom North America. "The 50-year contract is exceptional and underscores the confidence in our technology and expertise to support this critical corridor’s long-term success. Adding I-10 to our LA 1 and Belle Chasse projects continues to create synergy for road users throughout the region and marks a major milestone in our efforts to enhance Louisiana’s transportation infrastructure."
The I-10 project, valued at more than $2.1 billion, includes the construction of a new bridge, interstate corridor improvements, ramps, interchanges, and service roads over the Calcasieu River in Lake Charles. Kapsch TrafficCom will provide its roadside and back-office systems, along with operational support, including walk-up and customer service.
