Iron Mountain to Install Omnitracs Telematics Technology in its Fleet
Iron Mountain Incorporated will install Omnitracs’ Mobile Computing Platform 50 (MCP50) across its North American fleet.
Omnitracs, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated and a provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation, and logistics companies, has announced that Iron Mountain Incorporated will install Omnitracs’ Mobile Computing Platform 50 (MCP50) across its North American fleet. The telematics technology will help the storage and information management company to serve more customers over fewer miles, optimizing its service delivery and improving its environmental sustainability.
Iron Mountain will add the systems to its North American fleet of more than 2,500 vehicles, collecting data such as vehicle speed and acceleration rates on roughly 8.5 million trips annually, according to Omnitracs. The Omnitracs MCP50 platform and mobile fleet management applications will help Iron Mountain to improve customer service, promote safer driving practices, and augment its chain of custody for securing information in transit. Iron Mountain plans to roll out Omnitracs’ end-to-end fleet management solutions across its North American fleet over the next year and a half.
Omnitracs said that Iron Mountain will implement a number of user-friendly and intuitive applications to complement the features and benefits of the MCP50, including:
ALK’s CoPilot Truck on-board, GPS-based truck navigation, which allows drivers to input vehicle profile information, routing parameters and load specification information to provide the best route and reduce fuel usage.
Performance Monitoring, which interfaces directly with vehicle sensors and automatically sends speed, time in top gear and cruise control, and idle summary information to dispatchers to proactively monitor and coach driving habits.
Hours of Service, an electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) application provides up-to-date information on driver-hours availability to help ensure regulatory compliance and improve productivity.
Critical Event Reporting, which delivers a comprehensive, actionable view of safety-oriented, event-driven data summarized by vehicle and driver to improve performance, safety and accident prevention.
