GM Envolve has launched the OnStar DualCam, its newest add-on product fleet managers can purchase through OnStar Vehicle Insights. The camera solution is designed to enhance fleet management through real-time driver coaching and dual-view video capture.
The OnStar DualCam is integrated seamlessly with the OnStar Vehicle Insights app using vehicle and video telematics through a single platform. With its fleet-wide data reporting, managers can identify risks, download and share videos, and more.
“Have you ever wondered what happened as you were reviewing driver performance behavior reporting and wished you could have been there to see what happened,” said Michelle Calloway, director of GM Envolve OnStar. “With OnStar DualCam, you will be able to see what happened.”
The OnStar DualCam cameras capture interior and exterior video, so managers can always see what happens during recorded events. It is the only camera that connects directly to the OnStar vehicle insights app.
Also, drivers receive visual and audio alerts at the moment to correct any behaviors like using their cell phone, eating and drinking while driving, and maybe even hard braking.
Calloway added that OnStar DualCam reporting will highlight the areas of highest risk, and those videos are easy to download and share so fleet managers can use them to verify any claims.
Benefits of Dual-View Cameras
OnStar DualCam offers several key benefits, according to GM Envolve, since it is a dual-facing camera system. Those are:
Assisting with financial liability with both interior and exterior perspectives.
Accessing video footage of interior and exterior recordings to verify claims. Easily downloadable and shareable.
A built-in screen so drivers can view the display and ensure the camera captures driving distraction.
Benefits of Real-Time Alerts
OnStar DualCam’s ability to provide real-time alerts is valuable to fleets, according to GM Envolve, and offers the benefits of:
Helping drivers improve their behavior behind the wheel. Encourage objective safety training with interior and exterior camera views for more accurate feedback.
Drivers receive audio and visual alerts that allow them to correct behavior in real-time.
Coaching drivers on unsafe behaviors and distractions like eating or using their cell phones.
Benefits of Fleet-Wide Reporting
According to GM Envolve, the benefits of OnStar DualCam’s fleet-wide reporting capabilities include:
Recordings seamlessly and easily upload to OnStar Vehicle Insights app vehicle data reports. Identify and address the highest priority risks without getting bogged down in the details.
Machine vision and artificial intelligence are used to detect and review false positives.
Access vehicle incident footage.
Increased driver behavior visibility.
