GM Details 2014 GMC Sierra 6.2L V-8 Performance Spec Estimates

GM has revealed performance specification estimates for the 6.2L V-8 engine going into the automaker’s all-new 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The company said the engine will produce an estimated 420 hp and 450 lb. ft. of torque. The automaker said the maximum trailering capacity for the GMC Sierra with the 6.2L V-8 is 12,000 lbs.
The 6.2L V-8 uses direct injection, active fuel management, and variable valve timing to improve power and efficiency, according to GM. GM said SAE-rated figures for this engine will be available later this year. The 6.2L V-8 will be available in Sierra SLT and Denali models.
For 2014 GMC Sierra Denali models, a 5.3L EcoTec V-8 is standard. It produces 355 hp and provides an EPA-estimated 23 mpg highway on 2WD models, according to GM.
