Fleet buyers can now place orders for Ford's 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon, which arrived in dealer showrooms this month.
Ford is offering the 2014 Transit Connect as a panel-side cargo van and a passenger wagon it describes as a "spacious and fuel-efficient people mover."
The van is availabe in two trim levels (XL and XLT) wth the standard 2.5L inline four paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The wagon gets a third Titanium trim level that accomodates seven passengers.
"We're focusing more on the seven-passenger wagon version as essentially the 'van' replacement in our lineup — pretty small vehicle from the outside with tremendous space on the inside," said William Mattiace, Ford's utility vehicles spokesperson. "Also, a great price to move seven people."
The van gets 21 miles per gallon city and 29 mpg highway, while the wagon gets 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, according to the automaker. Ford is offering an optional 1.6L four cylinder EcoBoost engine it says will boost the wagon to 29 mpg highway.
The wagon includes fold-flat second- and third-row seating and rear liftgate. It's capable of handling 1,200 pounds of payload.
The optional Crew Chief telematics system powered by Telogis tracks location, mpg, and idle time of one vehicle or an entire fleet. It includes a one-year subscription.
