Ford Pro introduced the Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle to California, one of America’s largest commercial fleet markets. This new initiative aims to simplify the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into business fleets by offering complimentary charging solutions and advanced energy management features.

The Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle provides California-based businesses with a complimentary Ford Pro Level 2 EV charger when they subscribe to Ford Pro Charging software. This bundle includes either a 48-amp or an 80-amp charger suitable for depot and workplace charging. The software enhances charging operations by automating demand response to grid events, managing Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) carbon credits, and scheduling charging during off-peak hours to lower utility costs.

"California is an EV pioneer, and new regulations aim to accelerate businesses’ electric transition,” said Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro. “We’re here to do the heavy lifting and help companies navigate the complexities of electrification, helping them be more productive and efficient as they add EVs to their fleet. Our smart charging software helps businesses effectively manage their charging operations, including scheduled charging to avoid peak periods when electricity is in high demand at high rates and automated participation in grid events.”

The automated demand-to-grid response feature in Ford Pro’s Charging Software responds to high local demand by pausing charging, alerting customers, and resuming once the event concludes. This not only aids businesses but also supports the stability of the local power grid, mitigating the risk of brownouts and blackouts.

Switching to electric vehicles offers significant financial benefits. For instance, the all-electric E-Transit requires no gasoline, and its scheduled maintenance costs are estimated to be 48% less than those of a gas-powered 2024 Transit. The smart charging software further enhances cost savings by optimizing charging schedules to off-peak times.
