Ford Adds Jobs at Kansas City Plant to Build More F-Series Pickups
According to the company, the addition of this third crew is the first step in adding 2,000 jobs at the Kansas City Assembly Plant to build more trucks to meet customer demand and to produce the all-new Ford Transit.
Ford said it added a third crew of 900 new jobs at its Kansas City Assembly Plant in order to boost production of its F-Series pickup. Ford said this addition is part of its goal to add 200,000 units of straight-time capacity in 2013.
The automaker said its F-Series sales have increased 22 percent from Jan. to July 2013 when compared with the same period last year. In terms of usage by fleets, Ford noted that the F-150 has 68 percent market share in hazardous materials work, 67 percent market share in the oil pipeline industry, and 62 percent share in road and highway maintenance.
