Massive flooding caused by heavy rains in Northeastern Missouri has closed more than 225 roads in the state as the Mississippi River overruns its banks and threatens to break levees in several areas.
The appropriately named Winter Storm Goliath has brought rain, ice and snow to the Midwest causing evacuations and killing 22 persons so far, according to The Weather Channel. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency in the state and has activated the National Guard to help emergency crews and protect the population from the floods.
